Palm Beach Opera and The Ebony Chorale of the Palm Beaches join forces to deliver a pioneering concert event that tells the story of Opera and the Spiritual.

For one night only, the collaboration will uncover the musical threads that connect these two historically rich genres, showcasing significant moments in both musical worlds and bringing together communities through iconic/unforgettable song. CROSSINGS will feature Neil Nelson, baritone; Greg Ritchey, piano; Palm Beach Opera’s Benenson Young Artists; and the award winning Ebony Chorale in their 25th anniversary year.

YOUTH ART COMPETITION

Announcing a Youth Arts Competition for area students 18 years or younger, inspired by the pioneering collaboration between Palm Beach Opera and Ebony Chorale of the Palm Beaches, CROSSINGS: Two Traditions. One Musical Heritage.

Selected artwork will be debuted at Duncan Theatre (Palm Beach State College) on February 9th at the collaborative concert CROSSINGS: Two Traditions. One Musical Heritage, and the accompanying artists will receive two tickets to the performance.

Youth Art Competition open to Palm Beach County students 18 years or younger. Private school, charter school and homeschool students are eligible. Up to 20 works will be selected for recognition and display at the CROSSINGS concert event at Duncan Theatre on February 9th. The artwork will then move to Spady Cultural Heritage Museum for a collective showing.

Artwork must be relevant to the Opera genre, the Spiritual genre, and/or highlight important persons, places, music, or ideas featured in the genres; artwork may also be directly representative of the collaboration and/or concert event.

THE EBONY CHORALE OF THE PALM BEACHES

Chorale Mission: To keep alive an awareness of the African-American heritage through the preservation and performance of the Negro Spiritual, a song that great our of the slavery experience.

Chorale Vision: Through its performances of the Negro Spirituals, the Chorale seeks to raise, as well as reaffirm, the great tradition and contribution made to American music by African-Americans.
